An Invitation for Secondary-School Pupils to join the creative workshops at the Museum of African Art
SUMMER HOLIDAYS AT THE MAA
The Museum of African Art, with the support of the Secretariat for Sport and Youth, will be organising the Symbols in African Art – Creative Workshops for Secondary School Pupils, a free course during the 2018 summer holidays.
Interested pupils can choose among the following groups:
- Group 1 – from 25 to 29 June, graphics workshop (Ghanaian adinkra cloths);
- Group 2 – from 23 to 27 July, African jewellery workshop (beads & thread);
- Group 3 – from 27 to 31 August, tailoring/sewing/embroidery workshop (royal Benin appliquéd cloths).
The number of participants is limited to 20 per group so – apply on time!
The workshops will be held in three groups, starting June and ending in August 2018. Each group is structured in four-hour sessions over the course of five-consecutive work days (Monday to Friday). Following the last workshop, on 1 September, participants will take part in a curator-guided exhibition set-up of their works. The exhibition opening – Sunday, 2 September, at 14h – will also include each participant receiving a certificate and awards for best works.
The workshops are held by Milica Josimov, sculptor and Marija Miloš, curator.
