An Invitation for Secondary-School Pupils to join the creative workshops at the Museum of African Art


Simboli u afričkoj umetnostiThe Museum of African Art, with the support of the Secretariat for Sport and Youth, will be organising the Symbols in African Art – Creative Workshops for Secondary School Pupils, a free course during the 2018 summer holidays.

Interested pupils can choose among the following groups:

- Group 1 – from 25 to 29 June, graphics workshop (Ghanaian adinkra cloths);
- Group 2 – from 23 to 27 July, African jewellery workshop (beads & thread);
Group 3 – from 27 to 31 August, tailoring/sewing/embroidery workshop (royal Benin appliquéd cloths).

The number of participants is limited to 20 per group so – apply on time!

The workshops will be held in three groups, starting June and ending in August 2018. Each group is structured in four-hour sessions over the course of five-consecutive work days (Monday to Friday). Following the last workshop, on 1 September, participants will take part in a curator-guided exhibition set-up of their works. The exhibition opening – Sunday, 2 September, at 14h – will also include each participant receiving a certificate and awards for best works.

The workshops are held by Milica Josimov, sculptor and Marija Miloš, curator.
